Top 4 Fastest Dogs in The World

Not all dogs are well known for their speed, this is for sure. However, there are some dog breeds that have been bred specifically for this reason. A lot of these dog breeds are used for racing, hunting or farming purposes. Have you ever wondered what are the fastest dog breeds? Here are the top 4 fastest dogs in the world:

The Greyhound is, by far, the fastest dog in the world. They can reach up to 45 mph. Whilst they may make great pets, they were originally bred for hunting purposes. They are still used for hunting purposes in some places, and are more commonly used for racing.

There are dog tracks all over the world, and normally, you will only see Greyhounds racing. Although these dogs are bred for speed, they can make very loyal and loving family pets.

Another very common racing dog is the Whippet. This dog is very much like the Greyhound in appearance. Typically, they have a very slim in build with muscular legs. This allows them to run at very high speeds at up to 35 mph.

Much like the Greyhound, Whippets are also used for hunting in some areas of the world. Again, these dogs are built for speed, but they can make very good pets. However, it is worth remembering that they will require a lot of exercise if you want to make sure that they don’t become bored, stay healthy and happy.

The Saluki is another variation of the Greyhound breed. It is sometimes known as the Persian Greyhound, or the Royal Dog of Egypt. This particular breed resembles the Greyhound in stature, but it has a much longer coat.

They were originally bred for hunting purposes, but they are rarely used for hunting these days. These dogs use their sight to hunt, as opposed to their nose. They can be identified by their long coats and feathered tails. This breed can run as fast as 43 mph.

Irish Wolf Hound

The Irish Wolf Hound is a very popular domestic dog. This dog was also originally bred for hunting purposes, and much like the Saluki, it relies on sight to hunt. They can reach speeds of up to 40 mph.

Whilst this is one of the fastest dogs in the world, it is also one of the tallest breed of dog in the world along with Great Danes, meaning that you need a lot of room if you want an Irish Wolf Hound as a pet. These dogs are very loving, and make great pets.
