Quotes and Poems Dedicated To Man’s Best Friend

A Dogs Best Friend

O Lord, don’t let me once forget,
how I love my trusty pet.

Help me Learn to disregard
canine craters in my yard.

Show me how to be buddy,
even when my sofas muddy.

Don’t allow my pooch to munch
postal carriers for lunch.

Shield my neigbors cat’s from view,
guide my steps around the doo.

Train me not to curse and scowl
when it’s puppy night to howl.

Grant I shan’t awake in fear
with a cold nose in my ear.

Give me patience without end,
help me be “A Dog’s Best Friend.”

A Dog’s Unconditional Love

You may not hear it,
but they have a voice.

You may not notice,
but they have feelings.

You may not see it,
but they do hurt.

You may not care,
but they do.

“Animals are such agreeable friends – they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.”

  • George Eliot

Dog Pennies From Heaven

I found a penny today
just laying on the ground,
But it’s not just a penny
This little coin I’ve found.

Found pennies come from heaven
that’s what my grandpa told me,
He said, “Dog-Angels toss them down.”
Oh, how I loved that story.

He said, “When a Dog-Angel misses you
He tosses a penny down,
Sometimes just to cheer you up
To make a smile out of your frown.”

So don’t pass by that penny
When your feeling blue,
it may be a penny from heaven
That your dog has tossed to you.

“Real men know that showing kindness to the innocent doesn’t show weakness, but rather shows a more important strength… a strength of character that doesn’t weaken with age…”

A Dog’s Promise

As we grow old together, I promise to always be there for you to lean on. I will always be by your side and you need never feel alone. I will listen when you talk and keep your secrets in my heart. I will always be your friend and stand by you if bullies come to call. I promise not to mind if you need to dry your tears in my fur… in fact I will lick them away and try to make you smile once more…
Your Dog

“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”

  • Josh Billings

“A boy can learn a lot from a dog: obedience, loyalty, and the importance of turning around three times before lying down.”

  • Robert Benchley

“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.”

  • Orhan Pamuk
